Artist statement:

I have been interested in art since I was a child. My great passion was drawing and painting. One of my dreams was to open my own art gallery and painting school. Dream came true. But with dreams it is better to be careful. It soon turned out that managing the art gallery, building offers, contacts with artists, organizing exhibitions and conducting lessons took up all my free time. I had to make difficult decisions to have time to paint. A few months ago I hired competent staff in a gallery and moved to the countryside away from the noisy city. I finally found time to create and show my paintings to the world. I am very glad that I succeeded.

No Love as unconditional as a Mother's Love. Mother's Love is the same in animals and humans.

Deimante Bruzguliene, was born in Lithuania on May 20, 1980 and came to the United Kingdom in 2004. Her love of all animals started at a very young age. She was always keen to rescue animals. Deimante is an Artist who is completely self-taught. She is breath taking realistic wildlife paintings of animals. Deimante works in a variety of media including acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolour, graphite and mixed media.

"I have drawn with pencil for longer than I can remember. I love painting. I work with passion and love. It is like a second nature to me. My painting is a kind of therapy for me. It lets me say things that I cannot express any other way and at the same time allows me to populate the space around me with artefacts of myself."

Artist’s statement

“When it is my time to leave this world, I wish to do so knowing that I have left paintings that inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.”

I have been a lifelong artist. I've been drawing since I can remember. Art class has always been my favourite class. My style is realist, as I am obsessed with detail. I have always had a deep love of animals and nature. I find inspiration in all kinds of creatures, both domestic and wildlife, big, small, or in between. My favourite subjects are wildlife. I love drawing animals as it is a way of accessing the secrets of the natural world. I can see their souls through their eyes, which I try to capture in my paintings. Animals are as individual as humans, but for me they manifest a purer and more genuine spirit to the outside world than do human beings. I can love animals by painting them, leaving a legacy of their existence and hopefully bringing to the viewer the same joy that I experience painting them. I would like more people to be able to experience the connection that I have with animals. I wish to take this further to really convey that animals have their own personality and soul. Every portrait I do enriches my life, for the subject enters my heart.

We are all connected. Connections are magical, providing an opportunity to nurture patience, compassion, love and caring. My art is motivated by my deep conviction that humans and animals share this beautiful earth as brothers and sisters. With my art, I’m hoping to awaken a sense of connection with the animals. Each animal is recognizable, soulful and spirited. Capturing the spirit and emotion of the animal or pet in a drawing is what my animal art are all about. I look into the eyes trying to figure the animals inner soul. For me the eyes tell it all. I want to touch people with my art. I have loved animals all of my life and find it very rewarding to highlight these creatures through my artwork.

Out of the many materials available for artists to use, I particularly like to use pencils. Pencils give me the chance to make mistakes and correct them.

Born in 1952 in central New York State, USA Louis Degni started painting and drawing at an early age. Most of his work centered around landscape painting but he also had a fascination with Disney characters. Teachers advised that Louis should receive formal training beyond regular school but the expense of formal training was too great. Instead, through an arrangement made by his father, Louis trained with an Italian artist involved in religious mural creation and restoration. During that period of training there was heavy emphasis on the human figure and creation of large scale paintings. Following that period of training Louis majored in studio art at the State University at Geneseo, New York, USA and was planning for a career as an artist. Unfortunately, life circumstances changed and the dream of a career as an artist was not possible. Consequently, Louis stopped creating drawings and paintings for many years with the exception of a some small works. More recently, after moving to Italy in retirement, Louis has returned to his passion for oil painting and drawing. With nothing left to prevent him in his pursuit of art Louis can usually be found either in his studio, on site studying a scene such as the one in First Light Venice or at an art museum or cathedral studying the works of the great masters. Not wanting to be known for a particular type of painting Louis tries to vary his subject matter from still-life to landscape and some figure and portrait pieces. He works primarily in oils but also charcoal and pencil drawings and watercolor.

Louis’ writes of his inspiration for the Venice painting, “The painting First Light Venice is a painting of a working class neighborhood in Venice. The dawn light is appearing above the rooftops and traversing the canals. Yesterday's laundry is still hanging in hope of warm sun and a delivery boat is patiently waiting for its crew. Reflections in water are something that has always amazed me and I love painting them. I also have a fascination with Venice but in addition to the more famous attractions I am drawn to scenes of everyday life such as the one in this painting.”

Over the course of many years Louis developed this simple philosophy about artistic endeavors: “After years of training and practice I have come to believe that you are an artist until someone tells you that you are not and you actually believe that. The creative spirit lives in all of us. Only the technical pieces of observation and media usage and control need to be taught. I spend hours looking at water, clouds and flowers before putting a brush to canvas. And each time I paint a cloud or a reflection in water successfully on a canvas I feel a great sense of joy.” The greatest compliment I have ever received about my paintings was when someone once said: “Louis, you paint from your heart.”
